Missing teeth deserve a permanent solution

Living with missing teeth - or with dentures that don't quite work - takes a toll that's hard to describe to anyone who hasn't experienced it. The gradual avoidance of certain foods. The careful way you smile in photographs. The constant background worry of something moving when you eat or speak. Dental implants change all of that. They're the closest dentistry has come to replicating your original teeth - fixed in place, comfortable, and designed to last for decades.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that's placed into your jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over a few months, your bone naturally fuses with the implant - a process called osseointegration - creating a stable foundation. A crown, bridge or denture is then attached to the implant, restoring full function and appearance.

From the outside, you can't tell the difference between a well-fitted implant and a natural tooth. From the inside, you barely notice it's there.

Why experience makes the biggest difference in implant dentistry

Dental implants are one of the most technically demanding treatments in modern dentistry - and the difference between an excellent outcome and a disappointing one comes down almost entirely to the surgeon's experience and judgement.

Regular check-ups and hygiene visits to keep everything healthy and beautiful for the long term.

Are dental implants right for you?

Most adults in good general health are suitable for implant treatment. The most important factors are:

  • Adequate bone in the jaw (or the option for bone regeneration where needed)
  • Healthy gums - or treatment for any active gum disease first
  • Good general health
  • Non-smoker (or willing to stop for the duration of treatment)
  • Commitment to the aftercare and hygiene routine that implants need

Even patients who've been told elsewhere they aren't suitable for implants often turn out to be candidates after a proper assessment with us. Our in-house CBCT and Dr Waghela's experience mean we can usually find a way forward.

What about bone grafting?

Some patients - particularly those who've lost teeth long ago - may need bone regeneration in certain areas before or during implant placement. Modern techniques mean this is far less invasive than it used to be, often done at the same time as implant placement. For many patients, modern angled implant techniques (used in All-on-4) can avoid the need for major grafting altogether.

How much do dental implants cost in Leicester?

Implant costs vary significantly depending on what's being replaced and how many implants are needed. We're entirely transparent about pricing - you'll receive a full written quote at your consultation with no surprises. Finance through V12 is available, with 0% over 12 months and longer-term plans up to five years.

Mell R.

Absolutely amazing dentist Dr Waghela, the fact that they closed the surgery so I could have an operation there was amazing. They take extra care of you and make sure you are looked after from going in to leaving and then after care is amazing. This is the best dentist I have ever had. Would recommend to anyone especially if you are nervous they can sedate you and you don't remember anything that happened. Thanks to Kizzi, and the 2 nurses that dealt with me you are all fantastic. Love this place. Thank you team for your super efforts throughout.

Zahra J.

I really love coming to the practice. Amy at reception is always on-point and helpful. She goes above and beyond to ensure she can fit you in and keeps you updated of any cancellations so you can get an earlier appointment if needed. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dr Bal and Dr Waghela both of which are extremely knowledgeable in their fields and thoroughly explain any procedures you choose to go for. They always have your best interest at heart and I can say that I 100% trust them with my smile. I've always found it hard to find a dental practice I can trust and having this practice in Leicester is a big win. I've been with them for 4 years now and couldn't recommend it enough!

Andy C.

I didn't visit the dentist for 17 years due to a phobia. Although my teeth were okay I had gum disease. I decided to have Invisaligns and 4 veneers on the top set of teeth. Dr Waghela put me completely at ease through the whole process which took about a year all together. I'm over the moon with the results. My teeth look so natural. I never used to smile in photos but now I'll be smiling like a Cheshire cat! Thanks to the whole team at Natural Smiles. I would highly recommend them.

Jaslyn K.

I was looking at getting Invisalign done and came across Natural Smiles. I couldn't be more happier with choosing them. The team are so so lovely any questions I have they answer straight away and are amazing with getting back to me. Would definitely recommend.

Nouviraj C.

Natural smiles where do I even begin, literally boosted my confidence, the staff there are extremely helpful, supportive and nice. Dr Anu, she has helped me grow as a person and made my teeth glow, one of the best dentists I've ever met! She listens to you, makes you feel comfortable and cares about the patient opinion! I recommend this highly to anyone who is looking for decent dental work. The receptionist has been so useful reminding me when my appointments are and if there are any changes. 100% worth it!

G A.

Had some fillings, whitening and composite bonding done here by Dr Anmol. Her work is amazing and she's so friendly and patient. I felt at ease straight away and my teeth now look awesome. So happy with them. Kizzy and Amy are lovely too. I will definitely be visiting again in the future for check ups!

Ravneet S.

Thank you so much Natural Smiles. Ketul, Anmol and Amy dealt with my smile makeover. Before coming to Natural Smiles I was a very anxious dentist goer. I never felt embarrassed when I visited Natural Smiles, I was always made to feel calm and valued and I won't go to any other dentist now! The staff are so lovely and attentive, always going the extra mile to ensure your comfort. I can't thank you enough for the confidence you have given me. I will most certainly be recommending you to all of my friends and family and look forward to my next dentist visit (something I never thought I would say)!

Aur L.

Professional treatment with Dr Bal, she is amazing with gentle touch and very good contact and communication during the visit. Had an emergency appointment and also crown appointment in the past.

Frequently asked questions

How long do dental implants last?

With good care, implants are designed to last decades - many of our patients still have implants placed 15-20 years ago. The crowns or restorations attached to them may need replacement after 10-15 years depending on materials and usage, but the implants themselves typically remain solid.

Is implant treatment uncomfortable?

Most patients describe the procedure as much easier than expected - often easier than having a tooth extracted. Local anaesthetic with optional IV sedation keeps things comfortable throughout. Some swelling and tenderness afterwards is normal and easily managed.

What if I'm nervous about treatment?

Many of our implant patients have significant dental anxiety - often a major reason they've avoided treatment for so long. We offer IV sedation for eligible treatments, with Dr Bhavnish Waghela providing it personally. Our treatment coordinator approach also makes a real difference.

Will my implant look natural?

Yes. Modern implant crowns are designed to match your existing teeth precisely in shape, shade and translucency. Most people can't tell which tooth is the implant - and you certainly won't be able to from the outside.

Can I have implants if I have gum disease?

Active gum disease needs to be treated first - implants don't do well in unhealthy gums. Once your gum health is stable, implants are usually a great long-term option. We'll assess your gum health as part of your initial examination.

Are there any health conditions that prevent implant treatment?

A few - uncontrolled diabetes, certain bone medications, and some other conditions can make implant treatment riskier. We'll always go through your medical history thoroughly at consultation. In most cases, even patients with significant health considerations can have implants safely with proper planning.

Do you offer finance for implant treatment?

Yes - through V12. Options include 0% interest over 12 months with no deposit, and longer-term plans up to five years at 9.9% APR. For more complex cases, we can also stage treatment and payments where clinically appropriate.

How long is recovery after implant placement?

Most patients are back to normal life within a few days. Some swelling and tenderness for the first 3-5 days is typical. You'll eat softer foods initially and gradually return to normal eating. The implants integrate with your bone over 3-4 months before the final crown is placed.
